The new Savoy doors were selected for our recent Mackintosh Kitchen project. Our client opted for the new Savoy door, which has a recessed centre with handle less detail moulded up into it. This shaker style door has a smooth painted finish. The clients wanted to keep the doors a neutral colour and have the lighting and flooring take the spotlight as the feature. The coloured light on the hood can be changed and is a new model by Neff, it also has a little shelf on it to put things on.

The clients love pan drawers so we supplied plenty! There are 3 large stacks under and next to the hob, and the peninsula is made up of the same. In both corners are the Le-mans pull outs for convenience, and the client requested a slab end from the worktop on the peninsula. Our designers suggested they have under worktop lighting behind the stools, which although they were unsure about, they are now delighted with the result.

A clever feature of the worktop is the box shelf at the back, this is to put things like spatulas up out of the way of the main work surface. To make allowance for this shelf we choose a Panoramic induction hob. The clients wanted shorter wall units on the hob run that were set higher than the default, to allow breathing space in the work area. They were unsure how this would interact with the window or with the tall run at the other end.

We put in a blind corner unit on the left-hand side of the design with some matching painted panelling. Instead of taking this unit down to the worktop we suggested a 'cubby hole' which the worktop has extended into. This has made a tidy little spot for their toaster. The tall units contain a large wine chiller, a Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer and some Miele Contour line appliances. The sink is a stainless steel under mount by The 1810 Company, on top of this is one of the first working Quooker Flex taps. This does boiling water, normal hot and cold water, Filtered water and has a pull out hose. The client wanted the flooring to be a continued feature in the room, so we had it put up the back of the peninsula and an identical Laminate to be used as a splash back. Due to the worktop shelf, the splashback is more for decoration as splashes will have a hard time getting to it.
