This sleek, minimal, kitchen design needed to be easy to clean with two young teenagers in this family home in Christchurch, Dorset, United Kingdom.
The clients were recommended to Herbert William by a friend after visits to other kitchen designers left them with uninspiring designs which just wrapped their kitchen in units.
They wanted a light, family space with a fashionable and stylish feel. They preferred the style of a high-gloss kitchen with clean lines and a modern handle-less design so we selected the integral range Mackintosh Units all in gloss white for the design.
To make a large light room we worked with builders to take out the wall between the dining room and the kitchen to make one family space. Bifold doors were also added to open onto the garden. Bosch ovens in stainless steel reflected the light back into the kitchen.
The client sourced their own work top and square bowl sink so we work alongside their chosen suppliers to get the perfect fit.
An Astracast professional tap in chrome and a Caple wine cooler gave luxury touches to this functional space.

Having approached a few kitchen designers we selected HW because they not only had excellent creative design concepts but were willing to properly work with us in the design process as we wanted to have a strong influence. The project did not exceed the original budget. What a good recommendation. We worked with Alice for over a year from initial design until the final door knob was fitted and the post installation aftercare visit. We had a myriad of revisions and questions prior to the final design and Alice could not have been more helpful, patient and accommodating. The reason we selected her over two other designers was the manner in which she made us question our intent, provided workable solutions for the difficult nature of some parts of our kitchen and understood why we chose an alternative worktop supplier to their normal installer - we chose a very specific coloured piece of granite that they were not able to supply. However, it was their granite in Herbert William’s show kitchen that made us look for a more interesting, textured piece in the first place. Alice's knowledge and vision of what can be achieved was excellent in our opinion. With regard to the installation, we benefitted from an absolute genius of an installer. Every other tradesman involved in our build and kitchen has commented on the quality of Ryan’s workmanship. He is an outstanding joiner and installer. And a really pleasant bloke. We have included a double door larder with shelves, drawers and electricity supply - thoroughly recommend it. And if you have enough stone left over, have the worktop installers fit a cold self in the larder, like a traditional walk-in larder should have. We’re very happy with the quality of all the products. Finally, we chose Miele appliances at Alice’s recommendation. On the whole, we’re delighted with them. If you’re considering Miele, go to the Miele Experience workshops for cooking lessons and to understand the full capability of what you are buying. An oven is so much more than an oven these days! Our one regret is that two of our appliances don’t link to our phones. Before the build, we didn’t view this as a requirement. But when you have something on all the other appliances, it becomes a real gap. The main issue is the dishwasher, where we chose the same model we had previously as a stand alone appliance but now as an integrated washer. It doesn’t display the time left on the programme on the door or floor so the only way of finding out how long is left is to open the door mid wash, which is irritating. But this is not a failure on Herbert William’s part, we didn’t check the spec in sufficient detail. Use Herbert William, in our experience you are likely to be delighted with your new kitchen.
